Duncan being weird

Just got a duncan with one head on it, though i do see 2 spots where some babies are comin in. anyways, Ive had him about 4 days, and ive had to move him about 3 times because everywhere i put him in my tank he kept secreting mucus. I have him now at the lowest light spot, on the sand, in the second lowest flow spot i have. Where i had him before, which was higher in the rock, he kept looking like he was gonna fully open up, and then id see a glimpse of his mouth and it was looking like it was inflated and protruding a bit, and then he would close up. i figured this wasnt a good sign, Meanwhile he was still producing mucus so i figured the lighting was too high. this morning he seems to have stopped with the mucus, and VERY SLOWLY seems to be attempting to open again.
im thinking maybe the flow in my tank is too high, or my lighting is too high, because he opens up a bit, and then closes.

Just leave it be. I have Duncans in the sand...middle...and top of my tank under 3W LEDs with medium, indirect flow.

The only time mine do the the mucus thing is when I've been handling them. I have mine about mid way up under LED'S in a high alternating flow & they're pretty happy.

It took mine 3 months until they fully adjusted and opened up very big. I tried different flows and one day they just all popped out and were really bg. I bought what was a 3 head frag in the store and they were huge (she had no flow and the lighting was low in my opinion) and after the 3 months when all the heads opened fully there is 12 heads on the frag. I only paid $30 for it too. I find that Duncans are very finicky and should just be left alone under a ledge (but still getting light) close to the bottom of the tank with moderate flow, but not too much flow that they are being pushed; it should only be a gentle sway.
