Duncan Help

I just bought a frag of Duncans and the tissue seems to be receding up the base. I had another frag die of this and was wondering if there is anything I can do about it.

I have noticed that if you touch the base the tissue dies where you touch it. try to leave it alone. Mine lost some tissue from me touching it but seems to have stabilized since.

Hate to interrupt, but does a coral's tissue die wherever you touch it with your bear hands? Any coral or just LPS or Duncan's? Or do you mean if you constantly bother the tissue with your bear hands, and then it dies?

Sorry d9sccr, thats it, but I don't think you need to spot feed, but they grow really really fast if you do, and it probably helps them heal better. Good luck.

I've touched my Duncans with bare hands a lot moving them around and never seen any sort of recession. Do you have other lps doing fine? How's your water parameters? Any fish picking at it? My maroon clown causes the Duncans to close up and I had to move them to another tank.

I've touched my duncans before and they're fine...

Pics would helps d9sccr... You might try moving it to where it receives less flow and less light... Or more depending on its location... Mine like moderate flow and lighting... They closed when I first blasted them, but I moved them down and worked them back up and they seem to adjust fine once you get them comfortable...

I've noticed the same thing at my lfs. They have a lot of duncans and recently, most of them have had tissue recession. though the one I bought from them several weeks ago is fine and I've moved it with my hands several times. I'm quite curious as to the cause.
