Hi, I have had this Duncan, which started out as a single head, for 1.5 years now. It has always had very long "tentacles" on its polyps when it was open during the day. They have also always been rather fat. For the past few days they have been looking less fat and very less extended.
This morning I saw what looked like a dark stringy stuff coming out of a couple of the mouths, like the picture below you can sort of make out some of this in the mouth at dead center frame.
I have been dosing NOPOX for a few months now to get the nitrates down. I upped the dose a little since it didn't seem to be doing much lately. There is a little bit of cyano on a single SPS, but other than that all the other corals look as they have looked.
Stats are as follows:
PO4 - .04
NO3 - 10
SG - 1.026
PH - 8.0
These were taken a week ago, haven't checked them lately, but are usually quite stable:
Alk - 10.5 - running Red Sea Coral Pro and have been since I started the tank
Ca - 430
Mg - 1400
The only other thing I did recently was put new filter socks in about a week ago. I now realize I forgot to rinse them, but didn't think that was "harmful" other than making the skimmer go a little nuts for a day or so.
Is there some obvious reason this might happen, or is it even a problem?
