Dwarf Lion + tank mates?

Im thinking of keeping a Dwarf Zebra or Fuzzy in my 55g when I set back up in the very near future. Undecided yet on which one too keep? I believe (after doing much research for a friend recently on the Volitans/Radiata etc.) they are all pretty much the same in terms of care. Hardy, eat's anything that it can fit into it's mouth, varied diet but start on live feeder shrimp/small fish, prefers dimly lit tank, Venomus spines etc. etc.

What im looking to know mainly is what potential tank mates could I keep with one of these in a 55??? Although peacefull I do understand as above it will eat anything it can fit into its mouth so what type of size fish are we talking here that would have a better chance of survival bearing in mind im only playing with smallish tank!

My current thinking is -
1 x Dawrf Lion?
1 x Flame Hawk (@ max size)
2 x Black and White Clowns or 1 x Maroon.
1 x Sixline Wrasse (@ max size)

Also am I right in thinking that the Fuzzy is alot more personable and active than the Zebra? Anything on the above would be much appreciated.

Regards ;)

i like the fuzzys alot. I would get the marron clown insted of the perculas though. Oh and make sure the six line is a bigger one lol

Here is a pic of one i had. He sadly died of a bacterial infection :(

Great pic cutie shame about his death. I've come across alot of people saying that Lions are notorious for just one day just deciding not to eat till their basically dead. More so with the Dwarfs as well?!

I actually ment the tank bread black and white clowns (with the orange face) as opposed to the true percs but yeah Ill prob go with the Maroon, they are lovely arnt they! Only thing im worried about is when the Maroon gets mature as they get really agressive. Still havent worked out what other tank mates to keep yet so who knows?

What did you keep with your Zebra? Was he active? What did you feed him?

I have had a zebra and a fuzzy in the past. Zebra got too big and traded him off. Fuzzy died suddenly not sure why - they are a bit delicate IME compared to the larger lions. Full quarantine is a good idea and train them onto frozen as soon as possible.

There is an excellent article by Frank Marini stickied here somewhere you may want to peruse.

Yeah got that thread techno - fantastic read!

Im interested in knowing the personalities of these dwarfs in question. As above I believe the Fuzzy is alot more active and more personable, is this true in your experience?

Thanks for the reply chaps, much appreciated.

Trying to knock up a list of potential tank mates here.....

yeah mine was on frozen krill, but the LFS where i got him was feeding him fw guppies, thats why he might have gotten the infection. It killed him in 24 hours. I would really get one that is eating frozen to start out with, makes it alot easier. I like the fuzzy dwarfs best, but the zebras are pretty cool too. I think the only thing i didn't like about the fuzzys is the really like to hide 80% of the time and don't swim around unless they are activitly looking for food. Not sure if the other dwarfs are that way, but i think they might be.
