i need to see pics of your 5 gallon or similar tanks!!! i will be getting 5 lbs. LR from seawaterexpress.com(hydroid free) and tahitian moon sand 20lb bag.(is there another place to get T.moon sand in a smaller amount...like 5 lbs?) will set up the LR, sand, equipment and have it running for a while before i buy the dwarfs. what macroalgae is preferred and resembles their natural habitat best? will i need a protein skimmer if i have some macroalgae and weekly water changes? i will be getting 6 dwarfs and need to know roughly how much do you guys spend on brine shrimp eggs every month. thanks guys.

I really can't help you as much as I would like... I did however, request that a moderator move your thread to the Seahorse & Pipefish forum, where you will be sure to get better responses.

Hope this helps and good luck!

There are currently 2 or 3 active threads showing dwarf tanks...along with many previous threads showing dwarf tanks. Use the search feature ;) A pic of my tank is in the gallery in my profile.
<----- this is also a pic of my dwarfs

I'm not aware of anyplace that sells T. Moon sand is less than 20 lb bags. The smallest size available through CaribSea is 20 lbs.

You can order hydroid-free macro algae from seawaterexpress when you order your live rock. Don't purchase macro from your LFS or elsewhere unless you treat it for hydroids, etc before adding it to your dwarf tank.

You don't need a skimmer on your dwarf tank.

It's advisable to decap your brine shrimp eggs before hatching. This reduces the chance of hydroids being introduced to the tank as well as bacteria from the bbs.

I hatch a tablespoon full of decapped brine (purchased from seahorsesource.com) per day. This is enough to feed my group 2 or 3 times per day.

Any bbs not fed within 24 hours must be enriched before feeding out as at that point it's nutritionally useless.

Hope that helps a bit.

Tom
