Dying Candy Cane frag?

I have a candy cane coral with plenty of heads, a few of which are on the bottom and not receiving as much light as the other heads. I decided to frag one off, and it looks to be in much worse shape than it did before. Does it have a chance?

So what are the signs of a candy cane polyp that is on its way out? I've heard of bleaching, but this one seems to be the opposite. It's much darker than the original it came from.

Could be that its getting too much light now. It was at the bottom of the colony not getting as much light right? Try moving into less light and try feeding it.

It's now sitting at the bottom of the tank. I think it's getting better, it took some food and the center is turning greener, like the rest of the colony.
