Dying Hammer Coral

Hi all,

I picked up a bright orange hammer last week and its been doing well in my tank next to the green hammer.

The today i noticed loads of specs flying around my tank.
I turned off the power heads to take a closer look and my hammer coral seemed to jettison a load of polyps.

Im guessing he isnt healthy, but should i leave him in my tank where the parameters are stable or move to a temp tank i have?

Pics attached.

Thanks

OK, after some reading i understand this is some kind of polyp bailout.

Question is why? and what should i do now?
All other corals are doing fine.

I stupidly didnt dip the coral so it could have some parasite causing the problem.

I can get some dip and dip it tomorrow or should i leave it where it is to see if it comes back?

I did a 30% water change at the weekend. Do i need to do another one now?

Polyp Bail out normally happens when the coral is severely stressed I believe it's a survival technique.

Put it in a low flow area, and away from direct light. Check for disease, and check the basic chemistry of your tank i.e. AMMONIA, NITRITE, NITRATE, SG, ALK, CALCIUM, MAG, TEMP, can come back with some numbers.

The coral actually looks a lot better this morning.
All my parameters are in check and all other corals are doing fine.
It was in a fairly low flow area already but ive lowered the flow a bot more anyway.

I'll pull it out and dip it later today and see how it goes from there.

Thanks
