Dying Montipora

All;

I'm hoping someone can ID what's going on with this monti :sad2:

I've had it for a few years; raised it from a nub to ~18" diameter. It is a very nice coral. About 2 months ago it started dying from the center, outward.

I have some pictures this time to help possible ID. You can see the dead, white in the center on the topside. The bottom doesn't look particularly good. Perhaps there's something going on from the bottom side, up...

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Paul

Alk swings will do that...but get a magnifying glass and do a close inspection of those dead areas, and make sure to look on the underside of the monti.

+1 on the above. I have seen both and they looked the same to me. It can be hard to see the nudis but if your alk is in check then I would keep looking closely for those nudis. You may not see them but you will see the eggs underneath the coral in the folds.

after changing out the bulbs in my t5 (more blue spectrum) mine went from orange to hot pink and starting dying from the base like yours....i did start to notice very small black bugs on it as well (would be the size of acro red bugs)...but i don't see any on the dead section of yours
