Dying red mushroom or splitting red mushroom?

New to the hobby so any help is greatly appreciated! Last night I put in about 10 frags I picked up at RAP. I acclimated them but did not dip them. I did check visually for any pests ect. The corals looked great and even opened up when the light wasn't on. I'm guessing they were adjusting.

This morning.... I woke up to see my red mushroom which is nowhere near the frags to have "spit out its guts?" And it has a dark spot on it. The mushroom is now starting to pinch where that dark spot is. Is this how a red mushroom splits? Or am I about to lose it?

Definitely good to know. I've never had any types of problems with it. It is just a crazy coincidence then that it happened after putting in the other corals. I'll keep everyone updated and thanks for the advice!

Absolutely no changes to lighting and no movement in the tank of the mushroom. The lighting is a DIY led and while maybe not the best, everything has been happy with it thus far.

Will do. It's on the same frag as a couple zoas. Those couldn't have stung it? And if so, should I break the frag in half to separate them? There was never a problem within the last two months of having it.

I doubt the zoas could hurt it. I have had mushrooms growing next to some of the nastiest palys out there and they did fine. If you have had it two months it is most likely splitting. I started with one red mushroom 3 years ago and at one point recently had close to 200.

Thanks for the info. Not sure if it's cause it was one of my first corals or what, but I didn't want to see it die. I'm sure everyone has corals die on them at some point but shooting to keep them alive!

Thanks again!

Just another update on the red mushroom. It looks like it has worked its way off the plug and onto a rock. Could have been the reason for the stress that it was showing. It also looks like it had two small mushrooms hiding under it, plus a zoa of some kind. Score one for me?
