E-mail Difficulties

Hi Everyone,

I have a problem with e-mailing from the AC3pro controller. Curt has been great trying to help me out on this one, but it just does not seem to want to work and I was wondering if anyone else has resolved an issue like this.

First off my DSL provider is SBC, I am trying to use the SBC smtp server and I am having the following problem. I have updated to the newest firmware, just an FYI. I have everything setup in the AC3 and when I do a test no e-mail gets delivered, the destination e-mail address is a hotmail account with no filters turned on.

According to the telnet, cons, 1 maild, mail command logs it is connecting to the server and sending the message, but nothing comes through.

I have done the same setup in Aquanotes, and set authentication to "POP" the e-mail goes through but I get a message in my SBC account that they no longer support that type of login. If I select "Login" in Aqaunotes and hit test it works fine and comes through to my Hotmail account.

I am able to login to my AC3 from outside of my home network without a hitch so I know it is on the network and "seeing" the outside world.

Anyone have any ideas? Has SBC changed something that is preventing this from working?

Does SBC require you to authenticate yourself in order to SEND email? If so, is email authentication turned on and have you input the proper login and password into the AC? If it is not required by SBC, do you need to make sure it's off in the AC? Just a few thoughts...

Thanks, it is strange, all of that is correct and yet it did not work. I actually resolved it by going with a free e-mail company that supports ssl and then sending the e-mail from that account to that account. For some reason nothing else would work.
