easier : yellow leather or fungia long tentacle?

long tentacle fungias are very hard to keep. they often come in damaged. Or too much flow or an over zealous clownfish do them in. If you want color go with a orange short tent fungia.

If your going to go with the yellow fiji make sure you can provide the high light and water movement they need to do well. With either missing it is just a matter of time before they fade away. I have mine under 250W HQI MH lighting in an area of strong water flow.

long tent fungia have dismal records in tanks

This is what I have read as well. Yellow leathers are some of the easiest corals to keep imo. my tank is packed tight right now as i plan to upgrade to a 75 very soon. A piece of rock tipped over on top of my yellow leather and buried it. I felt lazy so I let the rock sit on top of it for the past couple weeks. the other day i dug it out. it grew onto the rock so when i pulled the rock off it fragged itself. If you strike them down, you only make them stronger.

I've always had luck with yellow leathers also, fragging often. One thing for sure, if you give them plenty of light and low nutrients they are a brilliant yellow, if not they can be kinda yellowy brown. I've found that they can do fine underMH's, T-5's and also LED's.
