easiest clam to keep?

I'm not an expert on Clams, but I think it would quickly out grow the tank as well as need CONSTANT supervision on additives and food. It would filter 6 gallons of water in no time. Also, I'm not sure if even the hardiest clams can be sustained under 40w of PC light. You might get away with the light though. If I had to actually suggest any clams (which I don't suggest you keep one) I would recommend either Tridacna deresa or Tridacna squammosa

well if all else fails he goes under my 150 HQI...i just thought it'd be nice to have a lil low light clam in my 6 gallon which is too nutrient rich.

The clam would be better off under the 150. 40 watts is not nearly enough to keep a clam under. They require mostly photosynthesis to live but do filter feed as well. Strong lighting is key for clams. I am sure it would slowly die under the conditions you want to place it in.

i understand lighting requirements for maxima and crocea very well, just wondering if deresa or squamosa or any other clam can be content in 40 watts PC. i don't expect them to grow a whole lot, but i would like it to be content at the very least.

That you could keep? Maxima or Crocea are the smallest but you CANNOT KEEP THEM IN THAT TANK.
