easy way to rinse carbon

I have a phosban reactor that I run carbon in. Is there an easy/efficient way to rinse the carbon off before putting it in the reactor? I tried to use a colander but I am having a hard time finding one that has holes small enough to keep the carbon from washing out. Does someone out there have an ingenious way of doing it?

How about using the the mesh bags with the draw strings. You can get them from almost every fish store. They are used for holding media like carbon and other granular type media. I add my carbon to one of those and rinse under tap water until it's clear.

Start it up and direct the effluent water into a bucket until it runs clear. It might take a gallon or so but it's the fastest way.
