Echino and Chalice Question

There are a few echino and chalices at my LFS that aren't doing so hot. Part of the "flesh" has receded and now it is a dark brown skeleton. My question is... how are echinos and chalices at recovering? Are they easy to heal back up, or does a small bad piece on a large colony mean that the colony will soon be dead? Thanks for any help.

they are pretty hardy IME. unless its a bad brown jelly infection all the damaged ones ive gotten have healed.

depends. ive had both experiences. ive had challices that were extremely damaged come back to life and ive had challices that were barely damaged and continued downhill until it died. lugols, iodine dosing, lower flow and lights, and ultimately even fragging wouldnt stop it. echinophyllia lamellosa are the ones ive had the best luck with recovering well.
