ecopico tank cover

I just set up two ecopico tanks and was wondering if I should use the glass covers that came with them. I never see any tanks with covers on them. This is my first attempt at saltwater so new to this hobby. Also was thinking of using a blue clear plastic cut out over cover to give the blue effect rather than changing the LED's. That woud just be put on for special effects. Anyone ever try that?

I would say if you don't want a bunch of evaporation to use the cover and never heard of anyone using blue plastic. The one problem I could see with that is it would really decrease the amount of light getting to your corals and it would always be blue.

Thanks for reply. I just talked to pet store and they said same thing about lighting. I might try it anyway but just as a temporary show thing leaving it off most of the time.
