It really depends on the type of coral in the tank. For the 250 mp40s will give more flexibility in terms of flow. Personally I haven't used the vortechs yet but seen a lot of reef crest modes for their mixed/SPS tanks. If you want to tune it down for evenings, the lagoon seems to be an option that people use.
