I have a white ghost eel in my 55g and they stay rather small. Mine is just about 2' but it is the largest one I have seen! I've had it a year now and has been doing great! I see ur local...the LFS where I got mine, Exotic Aquatic up here in Ft Laud has 2 of them now....they run about 35$ and look very similar to a ribbon eel...here is a pic of mine...he has never bothered any fish except for firefish!
Yeah, I'm down south by Atlantis Aquarium in South Miami. Nice pic! How easy (or not) are they to keep. This is my 1st attempt with one of these guys. I know to ask about the feeding and check if the LFS has it eatting frozen. Anything else I should look into? Thanks for responses everyon.
Any other eels besides a snow flake and a Ghost eel, that I could fit in a 38 gallon tank???
A Golden Eel, Banana Moray Eel, Canary Moray, Canary Moray Eel, these are the same thing right? But 299.99 a little steep, anyone have one of these eels?
i have golden eels now. 1 is in my 110 gallon, and 3 are up for grabs.
They are very nice eels. They stay small (12" max) and have such small mouths they rarely eat fish or inverts. I have kept them with snails hermits and a scarlet wrasse. I would however be weary with pistol shrimp, as i have heard that they will eat those. 299.99 is actually a good retail price for them. I think the marinecenter.com had them listed at 500.00 which is an absolute ripoff.
Some of the golden/canary eels will come from brazil, and are NOT golden dwarf eels. These eels will get to almost 20". Dwarfs will max out completely at 12". There is also the goldentail eel whcih gets 24" i believe. golden dwarfs are endemic to Hawaii
