I have a ICU outbreak that won't go away. Rather than try to catch all the fish I was going to remove the corals and drop the salinity and tray the tank with something natural. Do I need to remove the anemones? And do medications effect them?
Why don't you set up a QT aka quarantine tank? Medications and hyposalinity..will kill your anemones.
Are you talking about ich? If so you need to remove all fish..do not dose any meds to your display tank. The meds will get soaked up by your liverock and sand. You need to set up a quarantine tank. It must be a bare bottom tank and have an air stone, filtration system and pvc pipes or fake aquascape (place for your fish to hide)
What you can do to get your fish out of the display tank is..
1. get rubber maid containers..fill them half way with saltwater from your tank.
2. Take out all live rock and corals put them in the containers. (they will be fine for a couple of hours while you are getting the fish out)
3. once you have all the fish out and in a QT. Put all the corals and live rock back in the tank and keep the fish out of the Display for two months.
