Eheim 1262 external..

Does anyone have a 1262 running external or recommend running one external?
Or are they just better run internal?

The only instance I have seen it running external was as a feed pump on a recirc skimmer. I cannot remember the brand (ASM maybe), but the whole skimmer was external (it sits next to the sump).

I think it would work fine. I just think most people run them internal because you don't have to figure out a intake solution or drill your sump. Just drop it in the sump and plug it in.

I used to run one internal and one external, cant remember if it was the 1260 or 1262. They both worked great and dead silent.

They work the same externally, it will be fine.

I am running my 1260 externally for almost 3 years without any problem.

Either way works perfect... one of the best pumps I've ever owned and 100% silent!

An aside. Do you guys soak this pump to clean out calcium buildup as you would clean out a tunze 6100?
