Elegance coral questions...

I was at my LFS yesterday and they had an elegance coral that was about 4-5" and $30. This seems like a pretty good deal as most online retailers have this coral priced at $60 or more for this size. I've read different decriptions on different websites; some saying it's perfect for beginners, others saying it's one of the more difficult LPS. What are the requirements for this coral as far as placement, lighting, and flow are concerned? Thanks for any info...!

They can be a very hard coral to keep alive. 30.00 is a good price if it is healthy. As far as placement mine like low to mid light and low flow. HTH Tim

The elegances from the indio region have a very bad survival rate for the last few years.

However, the aussie elegances that have been seen in the trade for a while now have shown to be much more adaptable to aquarium life and have a good survival rate. I've had a aussie elegance for about two months now, its doing excellent. Low to mid light and same for flow, just enough to keep its tentacles swaying.

Ask your LFS where the elegance originated from. Either way thats a good price but I wouldn't buy a indio elegance, just TOO many threads here on RC about them not surviving.

As far as I know, it's from Jakarta, so that pretty much rules it out. Oh well, they had quite a few easier to maintain species for the same price, thanks for the info!

I agree with reefinit. If it is a coral you want it is worth $30 bucks. Just dip it and go from there.
