Elevated tank temp

I have an elevated tank temp for some reason and cant nail it down on what it is. I have even turned off my heaters and its still at 81-82. The norm is 78 at night and 80 during the day. Even with the lights off the temp is still 81.5

How are your pumps / powerheads? Sounds like one may be overheating. Have you cleaned them lately? Hows the room temp?

All the powerhead are functioning and dont feel hot. I have a quiet one 6000 return pump that starts feels hot when you hold onto it for a while. But I dont know what its normally supposed to feel like. Room temp is 75-77.

this may sound stupid..but from an experience I had...make sure your thermometer is working exactly before you begin trying to solve the problem :)

Ya my temp on my controller and my floating therm are dead on. I took out and cleaned my skimmer pump and my return pump. Temp is still above 81, even with the heaters unplugged. That leaves only the koralias which I cant believe one koralia 4 could overheat a 125 with a 30 long sump.? Im still scratching my head on this one

I have the same problem (but mine's a little biocube 14), and I suspect my koralia nano. I tried replacing the stock fans in the hood with larger ones - nothing changed. The only consistent way for me to keep temps down is to cool that room to 71 degrees or so. Or blow a fan on the water surface I guess. :(

I had the same issue...I had to set the room temp to 72 and the temp returned to normal...even worse on really humid days...and well, it's raining a little...when the room temp would be over 75, my tank would stay 82...I lowered my heater to 78 or less as well...all is good now.

in my experience those quietone pumps run very hot. I had one we ran outside the water that melted carpet! My tank gets to 82 in the days sometimes in the summer with no ill effects. 84 however is the start of the danger zone.

Ok cool my temp stayed locked in at 81.2 all night. Im kinda thinking its the humidity. We will see how it goes. But MORE IMPORTANTLY everybody be careful in this bad weather.
