emeral crab behavior

My emeral crab ate his tankmate sally lightfoot, a little leg at the time.
The sally is now left with one leg only, trying to hide away.
Anyone else has similar experience? i tought Emeral crabs were herbivorous!!

Should I put the sally out of its misery?

I've had two and both have been model citezens. Only eating algae, never bothing hermits or snails.

one of my sally's leg fell off but i think he got it stuck under a rock and pulled it off.

how big of a emerald is it.

What else do you have in the tank, I don't think the emerald is the culprit...

I had an Emerald Crab. It never bothered anything but the algae. Are you sure it was the emerald crab? if so are you sure your crab is an Emerald crab? I had a LFS sell me a anemone crab as an "emerald crab" back when I didn't know better. Anemone crabs LOVE other small crabs FOR DINNER!
