Emergency-UV rays

I PM'd Minh this morning with this message-
Minh-My croceas and maximas were exposed to UV rays this AM for about 20-30 minutes.I moved the 150W DE halide up 6 inches after I reinstalled the UV shield, but some are barely opening and others have a curled up mantle. What is my best approach?Should I turn off the light completely, and see if I get a better response by tomorrow?Any thoughts or hopes?

Minh was kind enough to respond quickly-

"I have never have experience with this type of injury to clams and corals. I would decrease light level but not all light off. Good luck. I hope they will be fine. keep us update. You may want to post this on the clam forum.
Minh"

After having the lights on and raised 6" for 1Ã"šÃ‚½ hours, the clams were looking worse.I turned the lights off, and they all looked less stressed after about 15 minutes.
I moved the lights up an additional 6"(total of 12")and I am going to try a short photo period later on to see how they respond.

Has anyone else had an experience like this?

Here is an update
I ran the MH for 3 hours last night at 12" above the water. The clams looked about 90% better than after the exposure. They aren't extending their mantles very much or opening fully, but at least they are not all curled up or withdrawn. One of my gold max had a lot of pinching at the bottom of his mantle where it was most exposed to the light. This seems odd, since he had no reaction to the immediate exposure earlier.I plan to run the light for 8 hours today at 12" above.I will monitor them closely.

It looks like there are some bleached spots on a few of the clams. They didn't react to well to the lights today,so I moved them all to the perimeter of the tank.I shut the lights off after 6 hours and turned them back on for 2 hours this evening. It seems that they don't like the long exposure.I'll set the timer up for 2 on 1 off for tomorrow.
