Emperor angel not eating

I had ich in my 240 gallon tank, and treated with hypo for 5 weeks. My emperor was eating great during the treatment, but stopped eating more than maybe a bite a week ago. I am in the process of raising my salinity back up now, hoping that would make the angel feel better and eat, but he is not eating at all, and his stomach is sunken in. There is no sign of ich on the fish. Could this be from the hypo treatment, and does it get better when salinity is raised to normal? Garlic soaked food doesn't impress him. I'll try the clam on the half shell tomorrow.

What have you been feeding? Sometimes fish will show improved appetite in hyposalinity but my guess is that the decreased appetite is not a result of the procedure, but another problem. Ic h can have secondary complications. Did you treat the entire tank with hypo or use a quarantine tank? Other fish? How long has it been since you saw the last visible symptoms of the illness?

Jerry, I treated the entire tank after I moved the live rock and inverts to a separate rubermaid tub. It has been around 27 days since last sign of ich before I started to raise salinity, Now it's been a full month with no ich. The other fish and eels in the tank look great, and are eating perfectly. I tested ammonia this evening, and it is 0 also. I've tried formula 1 pellets and flakes, formula 2 pellets, freeze dried brine shrimp, about 6 different frozen formulas, mysis, nori. No luck. Also, he is breathing a bit hard too.

I don't think the hypo treatment would have any adverse impact on the fish's appetite. Emperors like to hide among the live rock and munch on the various LR critters .. when you removed the live rock that may have created a bit of stress?

You might consider trying some live brine shrimp ... that usually jump starts just about every fish unless they are really sick.
