Have a couple tanks set up and i set up a 90 gallon a couple weeks ago. its still cycling so there are only damsel fish in it(they will be gone after its done cycling). Favorite fish is blueface angel and emperor angel, is it a possibility to have a tiny juvenile one (1-3 inches) in my tank after its done cycling?

The emperor will get to about 15" and needs a large tank (200 plus). A juvi is possible in a 90, but will need to be rehomed eventually.

we are looking at upgrading to a bigger tank, any recommendations? right now we are looking at a 220, but do have a bigger tank in the budget.

I do not have any specific tank recommendations but I do have this advice: Do not add any large angel to a tank that has not been cycling for at least 6 months. Although they are generally quite hardy, optimal water quality is a must. Be patient and have live rock in the tank.

Ya maybe 15'' in about 10years. Go get your emp angel and enjoy until you upgrade he will be just fine.

ok great, we have a friend that will be selling us his tank that is a 550 with stand and about 570 pounds of live rock. if there is a way that we get this it would be awesome.but for now just have a 125 fowlr 90 fowler and a couple small frag and breeder tanks.

I am going to have to disagree -- better to get fish that are appropriate for the tank that you currently have, not the one you plan on getting.

some could say fish stores put these fish in much smaller tanks then 90g & they are fine. Which is true however they are usually there for a relatively short perior of time.

IF you want one in a 90g a small juv one would be OK however he might outgrow the tank in a year or even a few months so if it was me..... I would wait until you have the larger tank. It will save you a lot of possible headache's in the future

A 6ft long tank would be the bare minumum I would use for a emperor or other lg angel when in their adult years.

6ft 180 would be a must for any adult angel but those little emp can come in small and would look great in a 90g for a year and if you decide not to upgrade trade him for a bucket of salt. Im very sure most of us would be able to handle a life change as big as that. Looking back at my 400g with 3 2'' angels was very painful.

A juvenile emperor should be fine in a 90 for short term, you'll have a good reason to upgrade as it gets bigger =)

Not going to comment on minimum tank gallon required, but I wanted to repeat that you shouldn't add the angel right after you're done cycling, as the tank has to "mature" a bit.

If you are a little more patient, you'll dramatically improve the chances of the angel acclimating more easily.
