Epoxy for coral question

Hey All,

I read on here somewhere that you could use the same two part epoxy you can get from the hardware store to mount corals. I'm talking the two color clay like putty that you knead together and sets in about 5 minutes.

As usual there were around 6 options at the hardware store and I bought the stuff meant for water thinking if its safe to use on drinking water pipes it should be safe for the aquarium. Will I be ok using this? Its called water weld by JB Weld.

If this is not ok what are you guys using? I have no doubt the stuff at the lfs is just some sort of home repair epoxy rebranded for aquarium use...

Most everything I have come across has been good. My favorite was aquamend, which HD stopped carrying. It can still be had for many times what it once was. I find it cheapest to just by the footlong stick at the LFS now.

The JB Waterweld will work just fine. PC Marine is another one that works.

Thanks for the quick answers guys. And I believe you are right LorR I just took a look at the package again and its not as much as I thought it was when I picked it up earlier. It probably is about the same price to buy the stuff from the LFS.

I have used super glue gel that is what the owner of the lfs told me to use.
I have not had any issues with it and it worked anyone out there used this is it really safe?

I just use super glue gel also. Way cheaper than epoxy. If you buy 2 sticks of epoxy from drfostersmith including shipping it is cheaper per ounce than the jbweld
