Is it bad for it to come in contact with the flesh part of the coral?
Is it really safe for the reef?
I'm having trouble with a Kenya tree I attached to a rock with it.
What sort of trouble are you having? Epoxy gives off heat as it cures, some more than others. That heat (if it's high enough) can be bad for the coral.
I tried the epoxy first and part of my kenya tree detached so I used a rubber band to reattach it. At the base where it came off was flaking and deterating so I cut that piece off and used the rubberband. I thought maybe the epoxy was damaging the coral. Since then the tree looks much better so I'll see what happens.
My Kenya tree (capnella) attaches itself to any surfaces - LR or the kitchen board at the bottom - during one day.
The epoxy is usually not used for a such work - super glue gel is preferable.
