Equipment Junkies versus Coral and Invertebrate Junkies....thoughts??

I guess I fit Meisen's profiling (I work in a hospital), however, I also hit A and C in superfirefly's list.

I never thought about it 'till now. I'm going to have to say i'm right down the middle. I like the fish, I really like inverts, of all kinds, but I enjoy messing with some equipment too. I want my critters to be as healthy as possible with minimum maint effort and a minimum of equipment to fail when I'm not home. I pick stuff because I think it looks good and my tank will sustain it. I only pick equipment that I deem neccessary to keep the tank healthy and happy. It's the challenge of the whole process that keeps my interest. (well and watching the pretty tank with a cold beer and good music on :) )

lol superfly........glad to hear I am not the only one ignoring the thiness of my skimmate.

Hmm as long as you enjoy it, either from the back of the tank or the front. I guess thats what makes it a hobby. Beer actually helps me get through any intensive maintenance/plumbing chores so I am with you too scbadiver. I did aquarium installs and maintenance for a living though so maybe I missed the fun somewhere back there.

When I starting teaching Scuba and HAVING to do it some of the shine wore off so I would think doing the installs and maint would be same way for tanks, if i HAD to do them. Sometimes though I think we all forget just to sit back and enjoy our tanks for thier inherant beauty and appreciate the effort we have put into them regardless of the size, amount of gadgets, or critters. just that it is our little peice of the ocean. (again, don't forget the cold ones!)
