error opening file PSD

Dear experts,
I work with Photoshop for several years, with different versions. However, I see this for the first time. 2 days ago, I tried to open a file and the application gives the following error: "Photoshop can not open files in the" [other file format Photoshop should be able to open] "format."

What to do in such cases?

Try drag and dropping the image in a web browser.
After the browser opens the image, right click and save the image.
Then try opening it in Photoshop.
Another method:
You said that you can open it in paint.NET, you can open the image in paint.NET and do save as...and save it as a new file.
Then try opening that new file in Photoshop.

What file type were you trying to open? What version of Photoshop are you using?

I recently ran into this where I had opened Canon RAW files for years with Photoshop and recently began to not be able to, but it's because my 70D RAW files are not compatible with Photoshop CS5, and they wont ever be.

Anyway, the more specific of a question you can ask, the better answer we could hopefully provide.
