Eruptions of pink cloudy fluid ***?

so I'm sitting on the floor in front of my tank putting the screens to my algae scrubber back on after cleaning them and all of a sudden I see this cloud of pinkish colored matter come spewing out of the rocks in my tank. so I get up and am trying to see what it came from and it happens again. Then about 20 seconds later it happens at the opposite end of the tank. Tim was helping look to see what it was and it happened again and he said he thought he saw some kind of tentacle or something where the stuff sprayed out. My whole tank is clouded up with the stuff. So far fish and corals appear normal. but I need to go back out there and keep an eye on it. Does anybody have any idea what is going on in there?

So far all the fish and corals are not showing any kind of reaction to whatever this is. However my protein skimmer is going crazy with bubbles. Looking with a flashlight and my magnifying glass trying to see what it could be, but so far I see nothing. How weird.

Bristle worms spawning. I would bed that when i moved something. Usually what happens is a worm gets squished and releases pheromones and that keys the others into a spawn. Harmless but yeah, your protein skimmer will go nuts.

whew! thanks, I guess that over the years this has probably just happened when I wasn't looking. Am I going to have a ton of bristle worms soon?

I never noticed one way or the other. My guess is no. Their population will hit a balance and any that do come from this will starve off. One things sure, your corals are getting a free feeding.
