Eshopps PSK-100H

Hi all,

I'm new to the saltwater aquarium hobby. I have grown up with freshwater all my life. I purchased an Eshopps PSK-100H hang on back protein skimmer that was recommended by the local shop and I'm having some issues. The instructions were very simple and plain. I followed them but now when I turn on my skimmer it's fills up to the neck with water then starts to give off small bubbles until it's overflowing out of the cap and water is filling up my catch bowl. If anyone has any tips or tricks that would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Turn the adjuster so its wide open and remove the foam piece..
Does that help?

They do take some time to break in..
Giving them a good wash in water/vinegar can help speed that process along to remove any residual oils/chemicals from manufacturing,etc... and they need to build up a bit of a slime coat on them..

Skimmers will also go crazy if you have added certain things to your water that change the surface tension.. medications, coral glue,etc....

I have taken the foam piece off of the outflow pipe as well as leaving it wide open.... maybe I will just leave it run and keep draining the catch... I know there's a long break in period but I'm just trying to avoid an overflow all over the floor.

I'm not familiar with the skimmer, but if its possible to have it overflow back into your tank thats what I'd recommend? When I was breaking mine in and having the same issues throughout the breakin period I just pointed the hose back into the tank and let it do its thing until it calmed down.
