Eshopps PSK75H overflowing

Hello,
First post here have had an Eshopps PSK75h up and running on my tank for about 2 months now. It has worked great until now went from producing thick nasty foul smelling dark skimmate to producing wet thin foam no matter what i do it seems to overflow the collection cup lateley flow valve has to be opened all the way to prevent it from overloading the skim drain line and spilling on the floor . Tore it down no scum on the impeller or return pipe that i can see everything looks good just can't seem to keep the water level down in the coloumn of the skimmer. Any thoughts would be helpful...oh and i forgot to mention i did check the air inlet as well all clear there too.

Have you dosed the tank with any medicines or something

I have the water level about half way up in the skimmer body. Used to be very near on the skimmer neck. This works well for me, however I have the sump model. I do have to turn it off for a day after replacing with a freshly washed filter sock which makes it overflow.
