Estimating flow rates.

For everyone Teeing off their return pump for various reasons, fuge, skimmer, etc. How do you go about ball parking the flow rates and dialing it in appropriately?

For instance, I plan to Tee off the return a couple times. One for the UVS and one for the refugium. Ball valves before each one and dial to the flow I want. The UVS will be dialed back to a slow trickle for the longest dwell time, but how do you know how much flow the refugium and the display are getting? Or is it not a big deal?

You could time how long it takes to fill up a known value and do the calculations. I just tune them until it is how I like it.

Ball valve on each line and adjust.
You can calculate based on the pump output and the cross sectional relative areas of each pair of lines.

I use this weir calculator. It gives me a pretty good result based on the depth of water over the weir and the width of the weir.
