Ethics and Reef Keeping

Unfortunately today's success at the frag swap was tainted for me... As President and a long standing member of the Reef Club I am privy to a lot of "behind the scenes" private information about the goings on of the reef club and our surrounding reef communities... One of our members fell victim to a malicious act whereby someone went out of their way to cause them grief... I do not know what kind of vendetta the person who did this had against our member that they felt the need to do this, but I do want to say that I am dead against such actions...

I am going to keep the identities of both private so long as each party wants them to be unknown. But I would like to state that I have always felt that the Reef Keeping Community did well to look out for one another and have a code of ethics above that of the average persons...

waynesreef in the MTRC forum even started a thread about how nice the reef keepers in TN were:

I am disappointed that this happened... And just want the club to know that I hold them to a higher standard and trust that there will never be any malicious actions amongst us...

I want to clarify since I've received a few PMs and have heard talk going around...

This did not happen at the swap, I only found out about it at the end of the swap...

The offending party was not a member of this club...

All of our members are great people... I wouldn't go out of my way for the club like I do, if I did not think so...

This post was more about how I disagreed with any actions with malicious intent... To show our member that I support him/her... And to let the offending party know that this has gone noticed... I will let the offending party know how I feel about it should I come across them sometime in the future...
