is the anything wrong with the extruded acrylic version of this skimmer that i should know about. should i spend the extra cash and get the regular rs80??

i got the extruded one and it works great.i have it on a 38g and i pull at least 1" of pure mucky skim everyday,i run a dry foam.i would suggest getting the gate valve for it,it makes it so easy to get the foam just the way you like it.

Did you buy the gate valve kit or just a spare gate valve somewhere? I was wondering if the PVC is metric or US?

i think its a metric pipe size,i had to machine a standard 1" gate valve to fit my pipe size, mine also has the genx pump.

So....has anyone actually used the Genx pumps with their new Euroreefs??? Or do people just read the old reviews and see that they aren't supposed to be as good as the Sedra pumps? I haven't used my skimmer yet, but I'd like to hear some reviews on that Genx pumps from those who have actually been using it...is it worth the hassle to see if I can get Premium Aquatics to replace the pump with a Sedra???

my RC500 came with the dolphin pumps (was a 12-2) & I purchased 2 of the SP4 pumps which are genx & converted it to a RC500

18 months & it's been great!!

I wouldn't worry about it :)
