Euroreef skimmers

Any advice on wkimmers would be appreciated. It is for a 75gal tank, with probably a 25 gallon sump. I have heard good things about Euroreef in general, but mostly in regard to the CS series. Any comments on the less expensive ES version. Tentatively palnning on having it in the sump, but could be convinced to be external.

Hi Chris,

I think for a 75 gallon tank you can't go wrong with a EuroReef es5-2 or es5-3. Just stick in the sump and plug in, super easy, super efficient and skims like crazy. I have the ES5-3 in my 100 gallon and works great. Jeremy's office tank, a 46 gallon SPS uses the 5-2 and works great, so i think either model would do great, no need to spend more for the cs models in my opinion.

I run the ES5-3 on my 65 and it is great. Just thought I'd add another opinion for you.

Thanks for the input. I've pretty much decided that is the way I am going to go. Just need to plan out a few more things first.

One more question. For a 75 gal tank with a sump of ~25gal, would you go with the ES-2, rated for 75, or the ES-3, rated for 90. I guess the other answer is 75 tank plus 25 sump = 100 gal = too big for either. Or do you just count the water that is in the display tank itself?

Hi Chris,

YOu want to count your total volume of water, but i think the 5-3 would be a perfect size, i use it on my 100 gallon plus sump and keeps up easily.

Euroreefs are underated in the advertisements, along time ago they use to put min-max rating but they stoped doing that and just put a min. so if it says min 75 its going to work on a 125 for the most part as I remember.
