I know this is the macroalgae forum, but I think you all would appreciate this. I recently had the chance to check out some samples of my water and algae under a scope and was quite impressed with the diversity of microalgae in there. There were especially some cool diatoms, which made up most of the microalgae I saw. You may be surprised to find that your macroalgae in fact has lots of epiphytic diatoms. I was also finally able to ID a filamentous alga that's been slowly growing throughout my tank (turned out to be Vaucheria). Anyone else find anything cool under a microscope?
