everyone have a fug? with corals?

i see your other reply

not mandatory
but they are becoming ever increasingly more and more popular... bec of the overall added benefit to a system... you can get by without one but its best to have one if you can.

you have a 200 gal system
(from reading your profile)

how are your water parameters?
is everything within normal limits?

if your water quality is already good
and you have a lot of LR already in the system... then you probably dont have to have one... but again there are so many benefits that its worth it to go thru the trouble of setting one up...

from the pics you posted in the other thread
i think you could get a larger sump and section an area off for a fuge - how much space do you have down there to add a larger sump?

regards

edit:
my wife and i are going to be getting into salsa dancing... havent taken any lessons yet but we are planning on it soon - palm desert isnt too far from phoenix - ever been salsa dancing in phx area ?

I do not use a refugium on my setup, but I do dedicate a portion of the sump for growing frags. It is not used for any macro algae or other nutrient export purposes.

Thanks for the info everyone. I do have a closet that back up behind my dt.I suppose I may take advantage of that and build a fuge there, if I can, I'll see if it will fit. My water is pretty good, but my nitrates go from 20-40, my ammonia is .5, everything else is good.I do water changes evey three weeks, of 25%. I may do a little less, and more frequently. I may add something to lower the ammonia. Salsa dancing is fun, doing for 1 year, great excersize!Never been to Phoenix!!

When I added my fuge my nitrates went to 0 and have remained that way.
Quick answer: no you dont have to have one but there are soooo many benefits :)
