exif data

Hi guys,
How do you save exif data using PS CS? I searched and someone suggested that when I save do a Save As instead of save. That still doesn't save all the image info.
Oh when I shoot RAW that is when the data is not there but if I use JPEG then it has all the info.
TIA

You need to view the exif data through Adobe Bridge. When you first open a RAW file in Photoshop you will be able to adjust all the settings. After saving the file and viewing it in Bridge you will see the exif data.

Thanks hollback.. Any idea where I can adjust the setting in PS? Does Adobe Bridge come with PS or do I need to get it somewhere?

Exif Metadata can only be viewed in Bridge. I know Bridge comes with the Creative Suites package but I don't know if it comes with the stand alone version of Photoshop.

What I was refering to about the RAW images was that when you open a RAW image in Photoshop you get a large pop up that lets you manipulate camera settings such as color temp and exposure. After you have completed your image adjustments and open the RAW file, you know can save it as a jpg/tif with the exif metadata of the changes you made inbedded in the file. This means that is you view the created jpg in Bridge it will refelect the metadata that you set in PS. I hope this makes sense. It basically boils down to, you need Bridge to view the metadata.

That's not true. You can see it in PS under File/File Info

A lot has to do with bit depth and original file. If you do a "save as" in PS and are saving a 16bit source file as a JPG (or other 8bit format) it does saves the file "as a copy" - when that happens the EXIF data gets stripped. "Save for web" also strips the EXIF. Try changing the image to 8bit and then do your "save as"

Exactly. It's because when you convert your RAW file PS is opening it as 16bit. That means that to convert it to JPG you have to "save as a copy" which strips the info.

Make your corrections, convert it to 8bit and then do a "Save as"

It's 8 bit not 16.
When I open RAW file, The file info window I have doesn't have the exif option like yours. Is that the reason why? This is before I do anything.

I searched ACR and it came up with a bunch of stuff :D .. What is it? Sorry I don't know much about PS and very new to DSLR too :o.. Thanks for helping me out!!!

ACR is Adobe Camera RAW. It's the software module that converts your RAW file into something directly editable by PS.

It didn't. I download the latest 4.1 and it said it doesn't work with my PS ver. (CS). I couldn't open raw file before so I install the picture project software that came with the Nikon camera. It has the nikon nef plugin.
I just try using that software to convert the file to JPEG and it has the exif data info. Not able to do it in PS though. Oh well.. Thanks Doug!!
