To make a long story short, my first red sea max tank was used and it crashed so I decided I would get a brand new red sea max and start over. The used one i bought was scratch up all to heck and back. My husband and I got the new tank put together and last night we moved tanks around. I removed all live rock, CUC's, and corals from the old display tank. Drained it and moved it outside.
My corals I placed along with the CUC into a large styrofoam bin with a powerhead and a heater. To feed the CUC I have been placing algae stripes into a glass bowl where the cuc are, submerged in the styro container. The styro cont. is sitting on the floor right next to the NEW red sea max 65 gal tank.
I know they need light and filtration.
My new red sea tank has 50lbs real reef rock, dry sand (not live), fresh made saltwater and that is it. I also put some seachem stability into the tank to help prevent new tank syndrome. After letting it settle out overnight I tested this morning:
Ammonia: >.25
PH: 8.2
Nitrate: > or = .5
Nitrite: 0
Salinity: 1.026
How long should I wait before putting the corals and CUC into the new tank. I understand nites and ammonia need to be close to zilch before its safe for them. But I am worried that the corals will not be able to spend any length of time outside a tank. I can add a small filter and do some WC's and at least since they are right on the floor beside the red sea max...they could get some of that light too on them. How long can they live like this if it happens to take a week or two for the new tank to be ready for them?
I have two frogspawns, a small duncan, two open brain corals, large elegance, 2 torch corals, and another aussie donut looking bottom dweller thingy lol.
