W00t! Just got this from Timothy at the new Exotic:

Hi Sheila,

I have some good news for your group!!

Every MARS member will receive a bag of Instant Ocean salt 50g bag for free on Saturday 26th August, 2006.

All they need to do is present their membership card.

The term is one bag for each member only. No ID, No salt, No exception.

This gift is offered and give out by ME only, not at the cash register.

I been working with the board members and officers in the past 2 days….this is the best deal I can come up with to show my personal support for your group.

That kind of stuff keeps me coming back to a store even long after the giveaway is over.

Update from Exotic,
The opening is going to be delayed, Sept 2 is the new grand opening day. He has set aside 50 bags of free IO salt, I don't think that will be a problem, for MARS members that show an active membership card.

Yes, that's what Timothy has said. The original family is one of the investors but there are a group of other investors as well. They are in the process of opeining other stores in other states with a similar model.
How many members do you think we have?

do they know that they are the most bashed LFS by some of these same club members?
its funny how a store gets bashed as often as Exotic and when these same members hear the word "free", members come running! LOL thats hilarious, I think theres a bunch of hipocrytes in the club.
I hate to voice my opinion but this is pretty sad. Exotic and Coral Reef are the two stores that get bashed on here and Exotic gets the worst of the two but when the word "free" comes, then its all good. WOW!
This is not towards the entirety of the club but certain members who do the bashing, and just a selective few and you know who you are we dont need to use the search engine to single anyone out. LOL! I have met some of the MARS members and everyone I have met so far are good people and some I consider friends, as much as I want to join the club this is the reason why I dont. I dont think its right to continually bash a store then welcme them when they say the word "free". What a joke!

I think a lot of people are willing to give them another chance, that is why the questions about changes in management are important to some. I haven't been to Exotic in years but am willing to check them out again, and I'll be out of town that weekend so I won't even be getting free salt.

a second chance is totally fine, I have no problem with that. But if they did not move and they stayed at the same location would that second chance still be given?.. why the second chance?.. is it because there moving in a NEWER bigger location? free salt? new management? the same guys who owned the last exotic owns this as well. Like I said I have no probs with 2nd chances, I just dont think the bashing is needed. If one does not want to suppost a LFS then dont and theres no need to bash them or need for that individual to ever be in there.

Well said, my thoughts exactly. I think you may be being a lil presumptuous fishsoldseperately.

I'll be the first to admit Ive given poor reviews of Exotic when they were off of Florin. And two bags of free salt wouldnt bring me back, seriously. But with a grand opening along with some new partnerships,new location, new faces. I would just be a troll if I didnt lend the benefit of the doubt to them, at the very least a chance to start a fresh. And I think some of the people you may be referring to(maybe myself who knows) but I think were more stoked on accomplishments/efforts of Sheila and how she contributed to the club more than a 10dollar bag of salt, at least I am.

People share there experiences with every retail store they go to. Some share it with family, friends or perfect strangers.

I share with all if I have an issue, I will share it. I have had issues with exotic, Hence why I did ask if there is new management. At the time I was there the Management did not help me in anyway. So if a store comes in with new management and new management style. Then it's not the same people you dealt with, so why not give a second chance.

The new store is only dealing with 2 main things, a new store and new management. Which are two very major things. Some might not liked the old store for how it looked, so a new store = a new start as the same with the management.

SO no its not a Joke, as you say. Its because of the fact they have the new store and is under new management. You should ask before assuming the worse of people.

I sometimes take a sat and visit EVERY LFS just to see what they have, enjoy the drive, see the deals, etc..

Personaly I am excited to see another new store in the area that opens up more options.

I frequented the old exotic and found some interesting stuff once in awhile. I think every store has thier own niche and filled them well. In fact one of my favorite "ugly browned" SPS came from exotic. Which is now a blue tipped/brown acro.

I think Edwin said it the best "New Store = New Start" I would hope that we all have learned a little in the past few months about the politics of these stores on this forum and opt out of those petty discussions from now on. I know I will try my best.

Personally I am very apreciative of the gesture and think it is a wise business move on thier part. But regardless, I am very excited about any new store and wish them all the best luck in this new venture.
