Experiences with Niger Trigger

Just wondering who presently has this fish in a reef. I know they will eat shrimp but wondering if someone started with a small one and the shrimp were ok after the fish had grown. Not keeping hermit crabs but just a few turbo snails. They are to me a very attractive trigger and basically wondering if someone has them and have had any major issues. Thanks

I had a red tooth trigger that was ok with my cleaner for years. One day he decided that my cleaner and 4 peppermint shrimp were lunch. Trigger went to a good home.

yes, this fish is known as the red tooth or niger trigger.

BTW, I had one of these and he was fine for over a year, then decided he would eat only the yellow half of all the yellow tailed blue damsels in the tank as well as the royal gramma. He then went on to attack a yellow tang, but left all the other fish alone (none of them had any yellow coloration). It was a very strange occurence, and I traded him back in to the fish store. They are definitely not trustworthy in my experience.

i've had mine for 2.5 years and he's a big puss... maybe because i grew mine out from 1".

I had 2 at one time, along with blue throat and sargassum. I got rid of the nigers as the largest one was beating the sargasum and blue throat.
