External Pump HELP

Has any body have any problems with external pumps connect to GLASS AQUARIUM SUmp Bulks hEaDs, like any cracking from the drilled hole.

I was thinking of building my own sump with an external pump for a 210, i have been drilling sumps for a while , but never had the experience with external pumps., worrying about the vibration causes cracks and then leaks , and no more coral. :(

What sump would you rec for a 210

Most people use a soft flexible hose (using nipple/barb fittings) between the pump and the bulkhead from the sump to lessen any vibrations for noise reduction and to isolate the sump against possible damage from vibrations. With acrylic it's no biggie but to me glass is more likely to crack if stressed. The soft tubing is easier to use since it's flexible and easy to cut/change/route in the stand IMHO.

ukspice69,

no problems, here but love in2deep recommendation, try to use flex PVC it will make your life easier

sump?

I like diy, so the biggest tank you can have and cut a few pieces of acrylic and glue them, pretty straight forward,

good luck,

sam

samsfishnchips not to sure , what you mean about the acrylic,

I am the biggest DIY out there.

PLease explain

hi,

when I was talking about acrylic, I meant to use it as baffles to separate the sump into section the size you like

I run BB and don't have a refuge, so my sump is very simple,
here is a pic

and on both sides there is a power head with wide flow to make sure it stays spotless,

on that sump I have two external pumps connected, one with hard pvc and one with flex pvc, flex pvc makes life so much easier

hope this helps, and good luck with your tank,

sam
