Using a Top Down Photo Box allows you to take pictures of your reef from above, seeing the vivid colors we often miss. Your camera is secured to the box with a thumbscrew (using the tripod mounting threads), allowing you to hold the box and camera for greater control. Take those great pictures finally!
The question I often hear is if the camera's lens will fit. The distance from the tripod mount screw to the viewing panel is 8.5". If your camera has a longer distance than this, a new hole can be drilled further up the back plate of the box to allow for this. The back plate is 11" long from the viewing panel. The hook on the backplate allows you to stabilize the camera for focused pictures, and can be used to hang the box off your tank if you have to pause briefly.
My photo boxes have feet to avoid scratching the viewing panel when putting it on a flat surface.
