I just found these in my seahorse tank, theyre definitely eggs, and theyre orangish with a red dot on them. THeres a hermit in the picture for purposes of scale.

Could this be a horse mating that didnt work?

Yup. Or a female that decided to drop eggs if the male wasn't ready. I've seen it a few times.

Yep... looks like dropped eggs to me. On a good note though Rich, it doesn't look like there is enough on the substrate to be the whole batch of eggs. When my horses missed the transfer, there was a HUGE glob of eggs. It's quite possible some/most of the eggs did transfer successfully and only some were dropped.

That's happened to my Kuda pair a few times, the male pulled away before the female was finished depositing the eggs and there was a string of eggs hanging from his pouch which dropped off onto the substrate. He still delivered a brood of about 50 fry three weeks later. Keep an eye on the male....only time will tell. Best of luck!

There were a couple eggs in another spot in the tank, not a lot though, and I have a couple of peppermint shrimp in there, so they could have eaten, but i'll definitely keep an eye on them.

One male looks knocked up today. His pouch is completely obvious today.

Should it be a concern that he is an erectus and she is a reidi? What kind of mutant mongrels will this produce?

Erectus fry hitch at birth and Reidi don't hitch for about 5 weeks. It will be interesting to see what your fry do.
