Fairy Wrasses

Hi!

I'm looking for a good pest hunter (flatworms, etc) for my tank. I would really like to get a six-line wrasse for my tank but really love my shrimp (skunk and peppermint). Apparently, six-lines often go nuts and start killing fish, shrimp, etc. I have heard that fairy wrasses are more peaceful and more suitable for a reef tank. Would a fairy wrasse be more shrimp safe in my tank but go after the same pests that the six-line goes after? ie small pest snails, flatworms, etc? I REALLY want a wrasse in my tank, not only for their beauty and behavior, but also to eat pests in the tank. Do the six-line and fairies have similar diets?

Current inhabitants:
2 percula clowns
1 midas blenny
2 skunk cleaner shrimp

and 2 peppermint shrimp SOON to battle some Majanos that have been popping up

Thanks for any information and your time! :)

Bud

Fairy wrasses eat stuff in the water column I have 9 fairy wrasses and have never seen them eat anything off the glass or liverock. I have 6 peppermints and still have majanos...all the aiptasia is gone but they don't touch Majanos', peppermints are from the caribbean and so is aiptasia, majano is from the pacific.

Ok, thanks for the info! That's what I thought. Since we are on the subject, how have you been dealing with your majano problem? Is there anything that eats them?

Butterfly fish but they're a risk in reefs and most require larger then 55gals for a tank, try Joe's juice it kills them and since your tank isn't that large it shouldn't take you too long to kill them off.

I've got 4 peppermint shrimp in with a 6-line wrasse - no problems so far. I just added a Carpenter's Fairy Wrasse too.

Pretty much anything from halicoeres will eat flatworms and other pests. The larger ones arent safe with smaller stuff though.

Ornatissimus/Iridis/maybe Crysus are the safest I think

If you have a sixline wrasse, you will not have fairy or flasher wrasses for long. Fairy wrasses are totally safe with shrimp.
