?? fallback on or off for a heater??

i am using a ehiem 200 watt heater and have it hooked up to the apex and programmed to turn on at 7 and turn off at 79. my question is i had the fallback off, but i just turned it on because i feel it would be better to stay on in a communication error instead of turn off?(dropping the tank temp dramatically) does this sound right?

It depends on whether the heater has its own thermostat. Assuming that it does, then Fallback ON would be appropriate. Just set the thermostat a bit higher than the Apex setpoint.

Then you can safely use fallback ON and in the case fallback becomes active it will keep your tank warm.

Note: you want to set the thermostat to just slightly warmer than the Apex program so in case of fallback it won't cook your tank but it won't allow your tank to freeze.

I always prefer fallback off... If my apex ever Crapped out I figure the temp cooling would be better tolerated then the rise. Either way is fine though.
