Fan noise

I just got a nice little string of fans from a fellow reefer. Ive had them on all day and have only had a .7 degree shift when my Halide came on. But they are really loud is there a way to quiet down computer sized fan motors? I realize there are five of them but ive never heard a cpu fan that loud. Id really like to keep using them on my tank but my wife is already saying "those are louder than the tank itself with is loud enough". Any idea's would be appreciated.

Get quieter fans, or slow them down with a POT (Potentiometer)
(Lower the voltage)

Ill have to try that think i have one of those on my dart board in the garage, assuming i still have the different connections otherwise i know Radio Shack sells them.
