fan question

Hello. In the article (great job btw), it says that the fan should not blow cool air directly over the bulb. How should the fan be oriented then in a diy hood? Like where should it be blowing the air? Like, sucking hot air away from the bulb? Thanks

There is no one answer that will fit all hoods. You will need to analyze your hood design to see where the air will move around so a place can be found for the fan. turn your hood on it's top and think of air as water and imagine where the water would flow and this may help.

As a guideline though, I shouldn't have the fan blasting air directly on the bulb, correct?

Yeah, that is correct. It will cool the bulb and cause the bulb to put out a different spectrum than rated.
