favia with potential problems

I received this extra large favia brain last week, but it contained a few questionable problems.
1. Small nodules, or tube like structures growing
2. some areas that appeared to be small sections of live rock that the coral had not yet grown over, or receeded off. Yesterday these two areas became craters.
3. A slightly discolored area.
My water parameters are great, and I have been feeding it at night while the sweeper tenticles are out. Any knowledge or advise will be appriciated greatly.

How did you get it? Shipped? Picked up? Possibly shipping damage.. #1 looks like a spot where I believe my skunk shrimp tried to get at food with my favia.

My favia doesn't appear to put out its tentacles as much - I think it gets enough of what it needs from lighting so I do not attempt to target feed any longer (which eliminates stealing attempts from the shrimp)

Is the flesh gone from #2?

Discoloration could just be adaptation to lighting - but my experience with favias is only about 8 months worth (3 under PCs and 5 under T5s). The favia went from a pinkish color to a green color.

it was shipped, the discolored spot has not really grown in size but it is more noticable. The ridges have widened and have a more blurry look as the green centers have shrunk. At night a can still notice the sweeper tenticles. most are half an inch long, but the ones toward the edges are at least 2-3 inches long.

Actually appears to be a favites :) And more than likely is normal, believe it or not. Those spots appear for various reasons especially in the wild as they usually eventually encrust over in our tanks due to the lack of diversity and or optimal conditions to support comensual critters. On such a healthy looking specimen my first assumption is either it was a vermetid snail, crab, feather duster, etc that could've broken off or died durring the collection/shipping process, very common in encrusting corals.

Great pickup btw, I notice you have it up already in your tank, if you recently recieved it I would keep it on the bottom for at least a week, so it can get accustomed to your system, going to high at first can at the very least stress the coral, if not bleach it.

Hope this helps a lil.
